Ronald Deermer
Senior WEST Instructor
Mr. Ronald Deermer has over 45 years of experience working with ammunition, explosives, and explosives materials; presenting explosives safety training; and conducting explosives site surveys and risk assessments. His extensive background includes explosives handling, transport, storage, and disposal; human engineering as it relates to explosives work; telerobotics for explosives operations; testing of explosive components; range safety; and hazard analysis. He is well versed in the requirements found in federal regulations that govern operations involving explosives and explosives components.
In 1991, he retired from the U. S. Army Ordnance Corps in the rank of Sergeant Major with 23 years of service. His service includes military assignments working with conventional, chemical, and nuclear systems. Throughout his military career, he was qualified in the field of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), and served in many EOD field units and staff positions.
Following his military service, he worked for 22 years as Senior Instructor at AMTEC Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama. He has presented explosives safety training to thousands of students. He is an accomplished instructor who brings real-world experience and practical advice to the classroom. He has an innate talent for tailoring training to meet the requirements of his audience.
